Pipeline Volleyball coaches 17U and 18U girls, usually juniors and seniors (also written U17 and U18, or 17s and 18s), plus college players. At this age the work is consistency, a recruiting video that gets watched, and an honest answer about which college level fits. Coach Lea reviews your daughter's film herself.

The age groups, in plain terms
| Club age group | Usual grade | Girls' net height |
|---|---|---|
| 17U (17 and under) | 11th grade | 7'4 1/8" |
| 18U (18 and under) | 12th grade | 7'4 1/8" |
Grades are the usual case, not a rule. Club divisions go by birthdate with a July 1 cut-off.
What matters most at 17U and 18U
- Consistency over highlights. College coaches want the skill repeated, not one great swing.
- Her position at game speed. Clean technique against better servers, bigger blocks and faster offenses.
- The recruiting video. Lead with the skill her position is recruited for. What college coaches look for.
- The right level. A place where she would get on the court, at a school she would choose anyway. The right D2 or the wrong D1?
- Getting ready for college speed. For committed seniors, the months before she arrives on campus.
The mental side. Coach Lea builds trust first and corrects without yelling, so a player can hear a hard correction and use it. Read Bond to Battle: how we coach the whole player.
How online coaching works at this age
- Film a short clip on a phone. For a Quick Check: one skill, 5 to 10 reps, whole body in frame. For a session or a recruiting video review: up to 20 minutes of match film with her jersey number and color. How to film a clip.
- Coach Lea watches it herself. For a $40 Quick Check she emails the one thing to fix, how to fix it and a drill to start on, within 48 hours of payment.
- Go further with live lessons. A 1-on-1 video session is $60 for 30 minutes or $90 for an hour. Monthly plans save 15%.
A parent or guardian sets everything up for an athlete under 18. This works alongside her school or club team, not instead of it: the team gives her games and reps, and we give her individual detail.
Recruiting at 17U and 18U
Most Division I classes are built by the end of junior year. Division II, Division III, NAIA and junior college programs recruit later, and many are still filling rosters with seniors. It is later than ideal, not too late.
Start with the free Recruit Matchmaker for a level range. For Coach Lea's own read, a Recruiting Reality Check is a 15-minute call for $40, and the $199 Recruiting Pipeline consult adds a school list and an outreach plan. No offer or scholarship is ever guaranteed.
Not sure which plays belong in a highlight video? In a Full-Match Film Evaluation Coach Lea reviews a whole match and marks the plays worth showing a college coach.
